Girl's Attire: A Biblical Perspective
A Biblical Perspective
(reaction to a post that says girls can wear what they want at school and boys should just not look)
Girls, when you are sent to find more appropriate clothing when your bra straps show or your skirt/shorts are too short, we are just reminding you that you forgot to think of others this morning when you got dressed.
You decided you didn’t care about what others thought or the rules or the biological effects it will have on the boys. By-the-way, that is how boys are wired by God and it compliments how girls are wired by God. It is fascinating, but a topic for another day.
So, making you change and rethink your attire is a lesson in unselfishness. Doing what you want to do because it is your ‘right’ is self-destructive and breaks the rules and affects innocent people. (How are the people of Charlotte feeling right now about people who are demonstrating their ‘rights’?) All things are permissible, but all things are not beneficial, helpful nor do all things build one another up, 1 Corinthians 6:12.
People in general should not look to their own interests. Do nothing to of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but each should look out for the interest of others, Philippians 2:3-4.
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice, James 3:16.
Did you know that selfish ambition is listed with idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, dissension…Galatians 5:20?
This is a biblical perspective of the issue of women wearing what they want. As Adam Mitchell says in the movie, Courageous, some will read this and scoff. Some will believe it deep in their heart but do nothing because selfishness (and Satan) rules their heart. Some will have a change of heart. Which are you?
I read the best comment about an incident of violence that said: I am an atheist and don’t believe in God, but I believe if the world acted more like Jesus, this world would be so much better. Bravo!!
Like I said, this is a Biblical perspective. You can’t mix worldly, temporary view points with heavenly, eternal view points. I’d love comments and discussion, but unless you are sighting scripture with your opposing opposition, it holds no weight in this Biblical perspective. Society and culture are worldly and ever changing. The Word is eternal and unchanging.
Blessings. May all of us think of what benefits others every day and in every situation. That is what Jesus did! He thought of what benefited YOU... even death. Are you willing to let your selfishness and vanity die for the benefit of the boys around you?
