A sword has many parts, but the three essential parts are the handle/grip, the blade/edge and the tip/point.
Did you know we also have a sword in our anatomy as well? Our sternum was named by the Greek writer Homer when he translated the Ancient Greek word sternon into English.
The parts of the sternum fascinated me recently when I learned of them. The manubrium is a handle-shaped process on the upper segment of the sternum. Manubrium means handle. The body of the sternum is similar to the blade of the sword. Xiphoid means tip.
So, as Jesus will strike down the nations with the sharp sword coming out of his mouth, we also need to strike down any lies and falseness coming from our family, friends, society, culture and world.
When something is not right, use the example of Jesus after he was fasting for 40 days and 40 nights. Say, "It is written..." If anything competes against or maligns the Word of God, be ready to speak Truth from your mouth using the sword inside you to slash away all contempt and lies.
The sword according to Ephesians 6:17 is the Word of God and the Word of God is firmly already planed in out anatomy just waiting for us to wield it and use it's power.
Don't shrink back from the Spiritual Warfare God has called you to battle.
