Is Your Attitude a Cat-itude?

We Are More Like Cats Than Dogs
A few weeks ago I wrote about my three dog’s personalities and using those personalities to help us in our life. Now, it is the cat’s turn. (Sadly, we only have 2 dogs now. Callie, our Australian Shepherd, was about fifteen years old.)

We have two cats. Tiger, the striped one, is my daughter’s and Vadar, the black one, of course, is my son’s. Over the last several months, Tiger has become extremely affectionate; then my daughter went to camp two weeks in a row over the summer. He stopped eating. He got lethargic. He was just depressed. When she came home, I was eager to see Tiger’s reaction to her. He ignored her. He ignored her for days. It took him two weeks to warm up to her again. I think he was just testing her to see if she was leaving again and not getting close in case that happened. Now that he trusts her again, he is even more affectionate to all of us than ever before.

Do we treat God that way? When God seems to not be there for us or our prayers seem to be falling on deaf ears, do we retreat and shrink back from God? Do we only feel like God is present when we are getting our way?

Vadar is the fighter. Tiger will be minding his own business and Vadar will pounce. It is so fun to watch them fight. When Tiger walks through the house calling for him, he ignores him.

Do we treat people that way? Do we pounce on someone in the form of gossip or criticism? Are we quick to throw someone ‘under the bus’? Do we ignore people in need?

It was interesting to compare our dog's and cat's personalities to ourself. However, let's get into the Word and start comparing Jesus' personality to our own life.

Bless you and may you put on all the characteristics Jesus demonstrated.
