I Denied a Blessing and It Was Taken Away

Yesterday, I posted a time I embraced a blessing. Today, I have an example of a time I denied a blessing and it was taken away... kinda like the talents in the parable.

Many years ago I was doing similar stuff that I am doing now: wiring a blog, writing devos for a book, teaching woman at church. I seemed to never have enough time so I decided I wanted to get up early and write and study an hour before I had to get the kids awake for school. This is not unlike now. I am a morning person, but I also like snooze.

We had a cat that began to be my alarm clock. T.C. would jump up on the bed and meow util I let him out or he would paw at the front door making the most annoying squeak with his front paws (he was de-clawed). I had to wake up and attend to him. Sometimes I would stay awake and work but more times than not, I would go back to bed.

I told myself that God had answered my prayer and made for me an extra alarm clock I could no deny, but I did not embrace the blessing. I also believe, since I did not use the blessing God gave me, He took it away. T.C. did not come home one night.

What talents, gifts or blessings are you not using? Do you think you will eventually make time for them but you are too busy right now? Do you sleep the time away? Does technology take up your time? What are your roadblocks?

1) What is your passion? It is probably your talent. Gain knowledge about your talents. I believe we do not do some things because we just don't have the knowledge.

2) Make a plan. Whether it is to read about your passion or to take a class about it, do something with what God has given you. Take some time to learn what you need to do with your talent.

3) Decide to use your talent by looking for opportunities that God will give you. When I started going to writing conferences and reading writing articles and magazines, I was more confident. I still have my my hangups like rejection--yikes! During a conference, I got the opportunity to write for the NOW Magazine. I almost denied that blessing. After the speaker finished, I left the room. About halfway down the hall, I turned around and asked her some questions about submitting and she told me to submit an article to her. I've been writing for the NOW since November 2011.

Don't float around in your life. Gain some knowledge, make a plan, submit it to God and He will bless you if it glorifies Him. And...text me at 5am any time so I will wake up and use my gift. The first person who does will get a free gift from me.  (let's see who reads to the end)

Blessings!
