Paul Recounts Israels Blessings

Read Romans 9:1-5
New Theme: The plan of God for Israel
Title in NIV: Paul is sorrowful for Israel's unbelief

Chapters 9-11 starts a new theme. Keep in the back of your mind that the theme is God's plan for Israel.

Paul is so sorrowful for the Jews unbelief  of their Savior, Jesus Christ. He claims to have unceasing anguish in his heart. He takes on the attitude of Christ in that he says he wishes he were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of his brothers. He would give his life for the people of Israel if it would make them accept Jesus.

Paul then describes their great heritage: the Jews were adopted as sons; they had divine glory when they received the law and the covenants, the temple worship and the promises. Their forefathers were the patriarchs and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ. Basically, Paul is saying, "You have no reason to not believe in Jesus as your savior." They wanted Jesus to be the king on the throne, physically. They could not wrap their minds around him being the King of his Kingdom in heaven (which includes us who believe).

Imagine the Hilton sisters rejecting their 'daddies' money, benefits, name, inheritance and saying, "We'll wait til something better comes along." (sorry, that is a bad example, but the only one I could think of)

Paul is sorrowful for Israel's unbelief. Next week the topic is God's promises for Israel.

Have a safe  and stress free week and bless others during this time of the year and always.

You are soooo wise Ms Erin...and an accomplished writer. I like the example of the Hilton's.

I know what you mean about 'being down about your writing'...at times it seems like no one cares about your words except yourself...makes you wonder, but only for a short time. I often wish I was 'reaching' more with my words/thoughts but I have to realize that, after all I'm not writing for myself...it's to spread His light and His words to someone who needs encouragement or just wants someone to reach out and touch them.

Just when I'm most discouraged God steps in and takes over. Some person that I never knew had read my blog...an acquaintance of theirs had given them the web address and voila! They encouraged me...it's God's Work...in a circle. Goes 'round and 'round...and we'll likely never know who we're touching while being touched.

So glad you found me!  Steeped In Purpose has moved to a better location to serve you! www.steepedinpurpose.net You can still find great...
