I am excited to announce my first Guest Writer, Amy Privitt. Her writing journey started about 11 years ago when she heard a voice say, “Write this down.” So, she did. It was the beginning of her love of writing and her walk with the Lord. Her writing comes from her heart and her mission is to share what she has learned with anyone who needs to hear it.
About four years ago she made a New Year’s Resolution with the Lord. She promised that she would get up early every morning and read her bible if He would let her write. It was one of the best promises Amy ever made because it brought her where she is today. She is closer to the Lord than ever and she gave her life to God. She is thankful for where God has brought her so far and can’t wait to see where God will take her in the future.
Amy has taught elementary students for eight years. She has been married to Mark for 17 years and has two great boys. They live on a couple of acres outside Weatherford, Texas.
Walking with the Lord
My walk with the Lord started with small baby steps taking many, many years to get where I am now. I was a young adult when I received my first bible and I was very excited about it. I learned that reading the bible was not as easy as it seemed and I never got very far before I grew tired and confused. I would go days and sometimes weeks without reading but I never gave up. I gave myself little goals like reading two verses each day and little by little I found myself able to read whole pages at a time. I can read for hours now and I talk to God every day and feel His presence. No matter who you are or what you have done, there is hope for you to walk with the Lord and know peace. It is the best kept secret in the world. I feel as if I’ve won the best prize of all and I want everyone to experience this amazing gift!
At one time I saw myself as unworthy, unimportant, and downright dumb. Many of us see ourselves in worldly ways, but not God. God sees us as the wonderful, perfect being that He created. The Lord took me on a journey to show me the way He sees me and He wants you to see yourselves in this special way, too. God gives us experiences that can bring us closer to the image He sees. This walk is important and it’s necessary to see myself the way God sees me. I no longer see myself in worldly description.
Psalm 34 says: “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time”.
So, trust in the Lord because he is there and wants to walk with you. He wants you to come to him and be with him in a richer deeper way. It’s never too late to begin your walk with the Lord.
God loves you, he really does!
