Read Hebrew 3:7-19
Title in NIV: The call of the Holy Spirit should be obeyed today.
In the first couple of verses, it is evident that God tests his followers to see how faithful they will be. Some people who are tested increase their faith and become stronger. Some people are destroyed and turn away. 1 Peter 1:6-7 says that tests come to prove your faith genuine. Tests are used by God to see where our motive lie, to see how our heart attitude measures up and to see if we will continually glorify Him through it all.
The Hebrews tested and tried God and they had consequences for their wrong actions: 40 years of wondering in the dessert and not entering into the promised land for that old generation. God said their hearts were always going astray and they did not know His ways.
Conclusion: do not have an unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
Do, however, encourage one another daily. The benefits out weigh the alternatives by more than either one of us can imagine. The benefits of encouraging one another are: so your heart will not be hardened by sin's deceitfulness, you won't loose your confidence and you are able to share in Christ with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
I did a bible study once that pointed out "those with small faith saw no miracles, but those with huge faith saw huge miracles." Matthew 9:27 says according to your faith it will be done to you. That person received their sight. Matthew 14:29-31 is about Peter's huge faith that allowed him to walk on water.
My God is an awesome God! Have big faith to see big miracles. Don't turn away. That miracle might just be YOU reaching out to encourage someone at church who needs it. It might be giving a beggar a dollar or a hamburger. Faith requires action. If you don't seem to be seeing any miracles, check your faith. Faith IS action.
See some miracles this week...even if they are the ones you cause by acting on the whispers from God.
