Earthly Wisdom Vs. Heavenly Wisdom

(Go to my blog page and find updates and 'follow me')   in-stepwithspirit.blogspot.com

Read James 3:13-18
Title in NIV: Earthly wisdom verses heavenly wisdom.

Heavenly Wisdom                  Earthly Wisdom
pure                                          harbor bitter envy
peace-loving                           selfish ambition
considerate                              unspiritual
submissive                               of the devil
full of fruit                                disorder
impartial                                    evil practices
sincere
humble
good deeds

Heavenly wisdom is the understanding of spiritual things. Earthly wisdom is the understanding of carnal, evil things. Our task and goal is to persevere in the knowledge of spiritual things more and more as we mature and leave the earthly wisdom.

Read James 4:1-12
Title in NIV: Friendship with the world is hatred toward God.

My title for this thought could be: Judgment Vs. Concern.  Lately, for me, I have been struggling with these two words. As I mature in the characteristics of heavenly wisdom (list above), I see myself and the world increasingly filthier and more opposed to God every day. I see many earthly things that are opposed to God and selfishness running rampant. Friendship with the world seems normal because....we live in the world. But, we are called to put more 'stock' in the spiritual aspect of life. Deeds are the only way to test which life we are more 'wrapped-up' in.

Romans discusses what a depraved people we are and that we are only saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. We should be a slave to righteousness and do those deeds contrary to God no more. Here is my dilemma: I see so many deeds and I do so many deeds that are contrary to my Spirit. My spirit groans when I put things before God and I don't take care of what God has blessed me with.  I have to be very careful when I look at the deeds of others and judge their heart. I am concerned about the selfish deeds I do and see everyday. They weigh me down.

My challenge: judgment leads to death but concern leads to a changed life. I can do nothing about others selfish deed's except  pray for them.  I can change my selfish deeds.  I can only allow Jesus access to my heart and change myself.
I need many changes.

Evaluate yourself to see if you are more heavenly minded or earthly minded.

Yes, you grandchildren and we children were truly bless with God letting us have such a Papa. He got up early and studied the Bible and was glad to know you do the same. I think the sign you and I saw the other day was one he would approve of: "words matter; choose them wisely". He thought deeds through carefully. How very blessed we have been. Examples matter; he was one to follow.

So glad you found me!  Steeped In Purpose has moved to a better location to serve you! www.steepedinpurpose.net You can still find great...
